Investing in Sports

Sunday, January 19th 2024, saw the official re-opening of the newly renovated Andres Campos Civic Center and multi-purpose building in Corozal Town.

This project which is a huge milestone accomplishment for the citizens and sporting enthusiasts in Corozal town was spearheaded by funds earmarked by Belize Water Services Ltd through the advocacy of the Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport the Honorable Rodwell Ferguson the Chairman of BWS Mr. Cornelio Acosta and the Director of National Sport Council Additional Funds, resources and support came from Minister, Hon Florencio Marin, Thea Ramirez, Mayor Rigo Vellos and the Corozal Town Council. Also in attendance for the re-opening was the Honorable Ramiro Ramirez, David Castillo, Chairman of the National Sports Council Mr. Linsford Castillo and NSC Director Ms. Iris Centeno.

The estimated value of the renovation is upwards of $180,000 BZD. It is the mandate of the Minister of Sports and the National Sports Council to continue to seek these partnerships, such as this one with BWS, to fund the improvement of sports in Belize, to help the dream of the Belizean athlete to be realized.
