Stimulating Small Businesses
The journey to empowerment isn’t always easy, but it’s life-changing.
For many women in Corozal Bay, job opportunities can be limited, making their livelihood seem uncertain. Mrs. Thea Garcia Ramirez, Chairlady of the National Women’s Commission, introduced the idea of a cell phone repair workshop, one that is free, inclusive and includes an entire kit so that these women can start their businesses from day one.
The project focuses on 14 trainees at a time, many of whom had never imagined working in cell phone repair, are eager but nervous to learn. The challenges are real—learning new skills from scratch, balancing family responsibilities, and the fear of failure. But with each lesson, they will grow more confident, mastering the intricate details of cell phone repair.
Through the collaboration with the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit, these women will discover a new sense of independence and potential. The training will not only give them technical skills but also empower them to take control of their futures.
This project is a testament to the power of opportunity and the difference a dedicated leader like Mrs. Thea can make. By opening doors and challenging norms, she’s helping to build a stronger, more inclusive Corozal Bay, one empowered woman at a time.
